Circular Economy
Around the world, governments and businesses are adopting policies to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The case for a transition to a circular economy is strong: Resource extraction and processing are responsible for more than 90% of global biodiversity loss and more than half of all greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change, biodiversity loss, resource scarcity and a growing world population require that we find new ways of production and consumption, taking into account the ecological boundaries of our planet. The circular economy offers a powerful framework for this.
The concept of a circular economy emphasizes reducing waste, reusing resources, and recycling materials to minimize environmental impact. It involves designing products with durability, reusability and recyclability in mind, promoting resource efficiency, and minimizing the generation of waste. This approach can contribute to both environmental and economic goals by creating new business opportunities, reducing resource depletion, and minimizing pollution.
What we do
Creating a circular economy involves a combination of laws, policy instruments, and green fiscal reforms at various levels of governance—national, European Union (EU), and international. We offer you a case-specific overview of current circular economy policies and legislation as well as support in developing a forward-thinking circular economy agenda for your organisation. We help you keep ahead of the legal developments, mainstream circular economy considerations into your activities, build capacity for biodiversity-related laws and policies, and find partners for projects that make a difference.

- International Environmental Agreements (various): Various agreements, such as the the Convention on Biological Diversity, indirectly support circular economy goals by addressing resource management and environmental protection.
- National Legislation (various countries): Many countries have introduced their own circular economy laws and policies, often aligned with EU directives, but adapted to their specific contexts.
